For over a decade, Francis Alÿs chased the tornadoes occurring in Milpa Alta on the outskirts of Mexico City. These encounters were recorded in videos that alternate between views of the artist walking towards then entering the tornadoes and footage from inside shot by the artist himself.
“It took me years to figure out what I was looking for. At the end, I realized I was looking for order within disorder. Paradoxically, it takes a lot of order to create a tornado.”
